Syndicate Explorer Scouts Code of Conduct

As an Explorer Scout (Explorer), I understand that I will observe the Scout Law and comply with the Syndicate Explorer Scout Code of Conduct at all times. Failure to do so will result in discipline action being taken:

1. Explorer Scouts (Explorers) should respect all other Scouts, Scout Leaders and other members of the Scout Association and should ensure that their behaviour is at all times appropriate to the Scout meeting or activity they are taking part in and that it does not cause offence to others.

2. Explorers will be respectful and tolerant of each other at all times. Bullying or intimidating behaviour by any means towards fellow Explorers, helpers or members of the leadership team will not be tolerated. This will include: Emotional, Physical, Email, Text, WhatsApp, Facebook or any other means of social media

3. Explorers will be expected at all time to listen and follow instructions from their leaders / activity co-ordinator / Instructor

4. Explorers should attend Unit meetings on a regular basis and if they are unable to attend, inform their leader, preferably in advance, or at least as soon as practical.

5. Uniform must be worn to all unit meetings and activities unless specifically informed otherwise that alternative clothing is required or permitted. Acceptable uniform will consist of a smart, ironed Scout shirt and a neat scarf accompanied by a woggle or tied using a friendship knot. Following investiture or presentation of a badge or award, Explorers should ensure that badges are sewn onto their uniform for the next meeting or Scouting activity.

6. Explorers should not bring any offensive weapons, such as firearms or knives on any Scouting activity. Folding type penknives are permitted, at the discretion of the Explorer Leader, providing the blade is no longer than 75mm or 3 inches in length. There may be specific exemptions for certain activities and the Leader organising the activity will explain these.

7. Explorers will be expected to turn their mobile phones or electronic devices off at the beginning of the evening and hand them in to be put into the phone box until the end of the evening.

8. Explorers are not permitted to bring alcohol to, or consume alcohol on, any Scouting activities. Explorers must not take to or use any illegal drugs on a Scout activity. This also applies to solvents and the misuse of prescribed medication.

9. Explorer Scouts will be expected to attend any official Scout event or Church Parades that the Unit is participating in.
